5 Qualities Of A Great Coach

I am a great believer in coaches – in sport, in life, in business. Simply put – they give you the edge.

I’ve seen, felt and benefitted from coaches myself throughout my career. And of course, I am one myself. Coaches allow you to see things you wouldn’t ordinarily see, they push you when you need pushing, they make you pause and celebrate when perhaps your mind was going past your victory and on to the next thing.

Above all, coaches are there to help you realise your potential across the board.

Few people have the opportunity to do that – and a coach can be the edge you need to go for it.

Check out this great video below with some thoughts from fellow athletes – Olympic Champions Alistair Brownlee and Mark Hunter and World Champions Beth Tweddle and Elise Christie on what makes a great coach in sport – and there are many parallels in business.

In summary, a great coach will:

  • Help you set goals and create clarity on what you want to achieve and how you will get there
  • Bring out your own wisdom and knowledge so that you can come up with solutions to problems
  • Believe in you and help build your confidence
  • Work hard to understand each individual client and what makes them tick
  • Empower clients to make difficult decisions and be accountable

If you’re looking for a coach to help you develop your leadership skills and take your performance to the next level, please get in touch.
